Issues After Battery Poles Mixup - Trunk Switch Faulty, No Sound From

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I've a Lexus GS300, 2003.

after my faux pas, where I misplaced the poles on the Battery while putting a new one I had a lot of troubles. Car wouldn't start. After the car service changed some fuses and reset the ECU it starts and works. Only two more issues:

1. No sound from the stock radio (non mark levinson, plain one). There are lights on the LCD and CD changer plays, you can search for stations but no sound from speakers.

2. The trunk lever on the driver's side won't work. I can still open the trunk from the remote but the switch inside doesn't work.

Are there any fuses to check? I think I have exchanged all the blown ones but...

I fixed the trunk with master key lock. SOund still not working. All fused seem to be fine. So I am not sure wether it's the actual physical volume know not working . Can someone remind me if the spinning of the know should have haptical feedback and something displayed on the screen. Maybe just the know is broke as turning it results in no changed on the radio screen

There are a couple of fuses that power the amplifier (Radio 1 and Radio 2). Worth double checking those fuses are ok, I believe one is in the engine bay fuse box and the other in the drivers footwell.

So after trying a lot I think I've blown the amplifier. I have found a used on eBay, but the article description says, that "ECU WILL NEED RECODED TO YOUR CAR ". Does it mean I can't just replace old amp with new, but will have to fiddle around with ECU as well?

svt services repair amplifiers - they done my ls430 one which had a blown power supply - maybe they can help - the 430 amp is just plug and play

Thanks for the tip, but I am in Dublin, so this would be a bit of a journey to me :)

It is possible. I'm just trying to figure out a reasonably priced solution. I can buy a used amplifier on eBay for about 25Pounds. Shipping (x2) plus repair will probably cost a lot more. So I am trying to figure out if a direct swap will work or if I will need to fiddle with ECU as well in order for the new amp to work in my Lexus.

So I have bought and installed a used amp. Unfortunately it didn't solve the issue. Does it mean the main unit is faulty and I need to swap the whole thing? Any suggestions, please! Having no music is killing me!
