Underbody Sealing

Recommended Posts

Hi, i have a 04 rx300 which ive had for 14 months with fsh and 69k on the clock.

What are peoples thoughts on underbody sealing, as ive heard that they can suffer from rust.

I've always been in two minds about it.

Don't think I'd bother.

Maybe just a good hosing down after the winter salt season has finished?

Hello Carl D from Lancashire, my RX is a year older than yours and the underneath is horrible. I have been told not to worry by my garage but if I had enough disposable income, which i don't, I would have a couple of days in the historic town of spalding whilst the people at rustmaster/buster, whatever they are called, 'dealt' with my car. Spalding, because the firm there uses Dinatrol, and everybody else uses waxoil. Having read up on both products I would place my trust in dinatrol, but I think it has to be applied properly and professionally, and me scrabbling round underneath my car with a grubby old paint brush getting rust flakes in my eyes doesn't meet either of those criteria.

Thanks gents for you replies, the reason i ask is if im looking to keep long term i dont want to have the bottom in an awful state. Im only doing 5k at max per year so i can justify keeping for a few more years, but i want peace of mind for myself.

I will have a look at dinatrol and read the results. Many thanks
