Clean Park Sensor?

Recommended Posts

Hello, brand new Lexus IS300h owner here, picked it up last friday, all I can say after 150 miles: it's a great ride!

Unfortunately, also encountered a disturbing issue: after starting the vehicle, a message "Clean Park Sensor - Lexus Park Assist Unavailble - Check Surroundings" pops up.

Of course I cleaned them all, but that doesn't help.

The one thing is: the message doesn't always come (one start out of two, on average).

The other thing is, the parking sensors DO in fact work!

Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks Colin, nothing is stuck, checked and cleand everything several times, I'll report it to the dealer anyway, just wanted to check if it's a known issue by any chance.

I guess these things happen during transportation.

Omg, this could be a milestone? Up to now, I think, every post on here about the new IS has been software issues, is this the first hardware/faulty part problem?

No. I've had the following replaced due to faults:

  • drivers seat base replaced due to movement in the mechanism under acceleration/braking
  • new power steering assembly due to notchy steering - a known issue for the early vehicles
  • rain sensor due to poor auto wipers performance

once the resonance fix is signed off and available I will ask to have that fitted - I had the engine ECU software update performed to correct the issue but that didn't fully resolve it.

Oh my God, what did I buy? I want my Freelander back! Wait...on second thought I don't

Went on a 1000mls holiday trip with the Lexus, sometimes the message didn't come up for 2 days and then all of a sudden reappeared.

I don't think it's a hardware failure because the sensors in fact do work.

Sounds like an intermittently faulty sensor, or one highly sensitive to dirt (sounds like my Mrs lol). Have you isolated the temperamental one? Did you go back to the dealer?

Not yet, contacted them by phone and they didn't have a clue and never heard of that problem before (the answer I feared)

Past 3 days again no warning at all...

Can't isolate the problem sensor because I had the warning even when the next obstacle was miles away.

Didn't occur since August 15th, car drives daily...

Apparently no fault codes were recorded.

Dealer's best guess is some kind of invisible protection film that wasn't removed correctly triggered the messages. After it wore off 'naturally', no more errors.

Still a mystery to me.

Some 1300 miles since July 30th, Average consumption 6,4 l/100km (44,1 mpg)
