What Tyre? Ae01 Or E51a?!

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

First post so please excuse me!

I've had my is300h since Feb and been racking up the miles!

I was a little paranoid when I got her because I'd read people getting seriously awful mileage....I don't know what they're doing, my average so far has been 55-57mpg on a 67m commute. Best I ever got was Southampton to Thorpe Park (wooo rollercoasters!) with 63mpg.

Anyway, I digress!

Nail in tyre :megaangry: :megaangry: :megaangry: :megaangry:

Currently I have the OEM tyre, Yokohama BluEarth e51a 17"

I've searched for my car's tyres online and the Yokohama BluEarth comes out as the AE-01.

Nowhere really seems to stock the E51a and if they do it's quite expensive. AE-01 comes out at about £70ish.

I'm confused - whats the difference? Which one should I go for?

Thanks,

Matt

Hello and welcome to the LOC.

I'm no expert on tyres so can't comment on the choice but I'm sure other better informed members will come up with a solution.

If the tyres are worn it may be worth changing both on the same axle which would give you a bigger choice of make and types.

Neither - go for the Dunlop sport blureponse - best tyres for the car...period

also look at the dunlop sport maxx rt

they are an A wet braking like the blueresponse

they are a C fuel rating blueresponse is a B

they are 67 Db against blueresponse 69Db

so 2 good tyres blueresponse around £89,sport maxx rt around £82

so nothing in it.

the difference is slightly quieter or slightly better fuel economy

the choice is yours

i have had the sport maxx rt's on a ct i had and they where quiet,i haven't tried the blueresponse so i can't comment.
