My sub vibrates with heavy bass audio so I was wondering if this means it's blown or needs to be repaired with a surround kit. It's a fairly tricky job which I would not be able to do myself as I am useless and have no patience and I don't won't the speaker repair guy to take it all out and tell me it's blown if I don't have the new speaker to hand. I did buy repair kit online. Any others have similar issue?

I repaired mine with liquid rubber. It's OK now, but having looked at what Mark Crapison call 'Premium' I'd rather have some decent speakers instead.

I now realise the sub is easy to remove, (3 seat back nuts & 2 shelf poppers), so having plenty of speakers around I will pencil in its replacement.

It does seem pointless buying a new foam rubber suround and glue when it just needs sticking back down denerally to the metal frame.

When you say you did it in situ, do you mean without moving the rear seats and taking the speaker out? or did you simply cut through the outer shelf casing?

Like the sound of that - I will look closer later this week at how the grille on the rear shelf removes.

Didn't have my glasses last time. Tried left to right, front to back movements but didn't work - does it just pop straight up perhaps?

Just pop speaker grill of by my be a flat head screwdriver, then you access to sub, get clear silicone and pull back the edge of the rubber surround on the woofer but be gentle no need to pull back much, just enough to get a bead of silicone where the rubber edge sits on to the metal lip. Once you pull it back a bit you'll get the drift of what to do, takes ten minutes to do let silicone cure for half hour and it should be good as new. I did mine and after a year I sold car and sub was still good. One other thing I don't know if you could get a small tube of silicone as it would be easier to get a the sub with it. Good luck phil
