I have had my IS220d for near 6 years now it only has 54000 on it but I have now got a problem with the power steering, I took it to Lexus Glasgow and they told me the fault code was C1515, has anyone had this problem and is it costly to fix? Oh and hello all I'm new to the owners club

Ment to add the power steering light comes on and power steering goes off I can still drive the car but steering is very heavy, if I pull over and restart the car it sorts itself out but then it comes on again, really love driving my car but this is really ruining my experience, any help would be much appreciated

Hello and welcome to the LOC,

The fault code points to the "Torque senor zero point not calibrated"

The power steering on your model is controlled electronically and this device detects when after a turn the steering has returned to its centred position.

Lexus should have checked this and if recalibration was possible it could have been reset with their specialised OBD diagnostic kit.

If the fault comes and goes as you describe it may be worth checking the sensor plugs and sockets for bad electrical connections.

You have obviously checked the power steering fluid level and drive belt I take it?

Did they not give you a quote for repair?

I have come across this same problem with a Prius. It is worth trying putting the steering in the strait ahead position, and the disconnecting the 12 volt Battery for a few minutes. This has been known to cure the problem, and since it costs nothing is worth a try.

Changing or disconnecting the 12 volt Battery with the steering in a turned position can cause the fault.
