Spare Tyres

Hi all,

How many people on here carry a spare tyre and jack?

I haven't done in any if the four cars Ive owned over the years as i see it unnecessary now days with the technology in tyres, if you buy quality tyres to begin with your less likely to get blow outs and catastrophic failures, don't get me wrong iv had a few punctures but they have all been repairable if not I replace the tyre, worst puncture I had needed to be pumped up every 20 minutes before going completey flat, but there's always a garage within that distance around my area to sort you out.

What are your views?

The only thing wrong with that is when you get one at midnight, 2am in the morning you will be glad of a spare tyre & a jack then. Mike.

But this has happened to me before, not midnight but close, I pumped it up and Made it home, I don't think this would had been possible with budget tyres, but I can see your point

So what is the point of not carrying a spare?

I have a spacesaver spare tyre,used it once fora couple of miles to get to the tyre fitters where they replaced the leaking valve and that's it in nearly 9 years.

As a disabled driver its also good to have the RAC man something to change without too much worry about finishing your journey. Mike.

I assume then you never brim your tank to save weight? :) :)
