Thanks. (Lexus Derby have confirmed that it is Powder Coating after Acid Paint Removal, Mechanical Cleaning and Prep/Bead Blast and scuff repairs - there are no bulges or cracks that i am aware of).

I have approached RIMTECH up here and have had the whole one day bath/blast/coat/bake/seal process explained. Price seems standard at £240 plus VAT for four wheels. Still waiting for our really bad winter weather so I will put off for a month or so. Thanks for all the helpful comments on this topic

Lexus Derby (who use a local specialist) confirmed GBP240 inclusive of VAT. However, economic logic took over. As I was changing the tyres in any case I have committed to a set of aftermarket 18 inch wheels complete with the tyres that I prefer. These make the original wheels available for winter tyres which I can refurb at my leisure.

Regarding tyres I was quite interested in the Dunlop Maxx RT (very quiet @ 68dB) until I saw the poor wet-braking performance. Staying with the slightly noisier (71dB), but known Uniroyal Rainsport 3..

RIMTECH has refurbished all 5 wheels (£377) and they look very good. As mentioned above the tyre pressure loss is remedied now - that's a relief! The centre caps are looking quite tired in comparison to the rest of the wheel. The replacements I got on e-bay are a correct fit but the external diameter is much less than the original. Is it possible to get a set with a 72mm 'face'? Alternatively has anyone experience in refurbishing the originals? I would like to spray them to match the wheels but am concerned that I would damage the metallic Lexus motif in removing over paint with thinners. I don't see a practical way of making masks for the motif. I'm too old and shaky to try a paint brush! So, it's 'old dog and new tricks' scenario - any advice will be gratefully received.

 I went for replacements instead. Wheelbase Olham £459. These are 18" but they do them in 17^ too.

How does it ride on the 18's compared to the standard 17's? What size tyres are you running?

Ah its me being dim. Forgot that I was looking at 19" wheels and the standards are 18". Oops!

I had 17s on my BMW and the 18s seem to give a harsher ride. If I were ever to make a change of size it would be to 17s.

I know some guys in the States who have 20s and 22s but I think they only cruise around at 5mph on a Saturday night in their show cars. :)
