IS 200 Newbie!☺

Recommended Posts

Hi

Just bought a 54 reg IS200, chosen because of the experience of owning my RX300. Its done 67k, but the guy I bought it off has misplaced the service book, called lexus who told me that it was last serviced at lexus in 2009 which was the 50k service@28k when they fitted a new water pump.

Now I have little doubt that the chap I bought it off got it serviced in the time he had it, he also told me it had the cambelt changed in 2010 at 35k but couldnt prove it as no service record!

So took the cambelt cover off and the belt is made by SKF, is this an original make or definately a replacement?

Also does anyone still do the lead? to make the sat nav work with the aftermarket stereo?

Thanks and sorry for the extra long post

I would have thought if they went to the trouble of changing the water pump, the belt would probably been done at the same time. Why wait until just 7k and one year later to do it? Hopefully someone can confirm about your belt marking. If it was done by Lexus, there should be a silver sticky label somewhere under the bonnet.

Looks a beauty by the way. I love the look of those very late model ISs.

Thanks

As far as my basic googling goes, lexus all seem to leave the factory with Toyota belts made by mitsuboshi, but stamped as Toyota.

I have no stickers in the engine bay saying the belts has been changed, so Im just hoping someone can tell me if SKF belts were a factory fit! Oh and the Lexus printout says just water pump was changed!

Thanks Jason

Hi my experience with Lexus and Toyota timing belts has been that the original belt has been marked toyota or denso  so the SKF will be a replacement. If you read the postings on here about belt replacement ,you will see replacement of the tensioner is also advisable .
