I always found multi car policies to be an expensive con. I use my no claims bonus on my main car and put my LS 400 on a classic car policy with RH Specialist Insurane (around £200 for me, includes European travel. Previously did the same with my MX5

I've got the ls on my old mx5 policy.  Still got the 5 and at this rate it'll be the only one I'm keeping.  Admiral wouldn't even insure my eunos. So Im with Adrian flux at moment.  That quote with admiral was based on 4000 miles a year too

I have admiral multicar - £460 for my RX and £280 for the IS300h for one year.

The thing to remember is - prices depend on where you live due to the accident rates, stolen rates etc. It also depend on car desirability and where you park, how much you drive etc etc so its not as simple as you think it is.

It may seem steep to someone in an area with low rates of accidents and stolen cars but itll seem cheap compared to someone in a place where accidents happen alot for example. All a matter of perspective. The best thing to do is go on comparison sites and also use brokers to find the cheapest quote possible for YOU!

.............. some of you may remember the Saga saga for me a few years ago now .........  well, I'm back with them, their prices were just unbeatable this year ( lots of surprises there too ) and the Ls400 is £268 for 12k miles fully comprehensive with a ( what now seems standard £350 excess ) and £138 on the Mazda 323f ( limited 5k miles and  £250 xcs )

................that's with a full ( and more ) 9 Years NCD and zero change in my circumstances

Beat my last year's local broker's quote, now with Sabre Insce, by about £225 for them both ..............  my suggested premium for the Lexus with Markerstudy ( last year's Lexus insurer,)  which last year was @£323 they wanted @£2k  ......  barmy.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm 25 with 8 years no claims, an IAM certification for 6 years, and my un-modified Mk3 is £1450 per annum with £400 compulsory excess.

I am all for having the right kind of cover but is sounds like you are being done over a bit.

Who are you with and what mileage and extras have you got on the policy?

Admiral, 36,000 a year (sounds a lot, but it's only average of 100miles a day), 16,000 of which is business, inc. legal cover, no breakdown.

When renewal comes up, be sure to ring Chris Knott as they are real people (brokers) and do "proper insurance". Havig had to deal with Admiral outside of just renewing insurance, I will never use them again (nor elephant or diamond).
