Could someone recommend a really good car wax. I don't mind washing and waxing the car but find that most available waxes only last a couple of weeks before it needs doing again.

Ideally I would like one of those really serious wax jobs that last years and costs hundreds, but until then could someone let me know what they use and where you can get it from.

Cheers.

I use

http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/finishkare-2685-pink-wax/prod_590.html

As a carnuba wax which goes on really easily with water and comes off with only slight rubbing.

And then

http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/sealants/finishkare-1000p-hi-temp-sealant/prod_589.html

As a hardcote finish, lasts me months.

Neither are cleaners though, more "finishers and sealants" so car needs to be clean first. You use very little too so last ages.

Hope that helps.

Hey Mike,

Firstly, which wax are you using currently? The reason I ask is just for comparison really.

Fundamentally, the durability depends on a few factors. For example, a clean car with no contamination on it will give you greater durability. Therefore clay barring is something which needs to be done if you haven't done it already. It essentially removes contaminants from the surface which makes the paint smooth and lets wax adhere to it better.

Whether the wax has a durability of a few weeks or a few months is entirely dependent on what type of wax it is. Show waxes i.e. maximum bling waxes will inevitably have poor durability e.g. Soft99 Authentic Premium. Other waxes are more dedicated and last a few months such as Collinite 476s and are for optimum durability

Then you get into the realm of synthetic sealants such as FK1000P and Soft99 Fusso.

Ideally, you want to keep a show wax for summer and a sealant for winter. Soft99 is my choice. Its pretty much exactly the same as FK1000p but has tighter beading and lasts a little bit longer.

Wayne, I have followed your recommendation and bought these two products - but as clarification, are you using using one product on top of the other?

Regards

Mike

Mike,

I'm sure you wont be disappointed. I only use the hard coat twice a year, once before winter and once just before summer. Then in the middle I use the wax to keep the shine up if required as it goes on and off so easily with a sponge pad and a little bit of water. Just remember that car must be as clean as possible before application though as they are cleaners.

Hope you find it as good as I have.

Wayne
