The brake wear light along with the bing bong and flashing triangle came on the other day and went off a couple of days later.  Now its on all the time so I took the back wheels off to discover there's only one brake pad sensor on the off side brake. This has been cut and joined to complete the circuit by the previous owner which was what I was going to do. I disconnected the plug and it was as clean as a whistle with no signs of muck dirt or water ingress so I cut the wire back a couple inches and twisted the wires together and taped them up. The rear pads are in need of replacement.  I turned the wheel to full lock and saw the front sensor wire had had the same treatment so didn't take the wheel off. Maybe I should and redo the joint. I've disconnected the Neg terminal on the Battery and see if this re sets the ECU when I re connect it in the morning.  I'll let you know.  Any ideas please.   Jim

Thanks for that  Malc.  I took out all the bulbs and 3 of the small ones were going black, one of the bigger ones and one stop light bulb was also going black but all were working.  I changed all the dodgy bulbs, cleaned the rest and   yippee!!!! no more bing bongs or Brake Wear warning light on the dash.  Without your help I would never have connected  these two faults.  How reassuring to be in the LOC.  PS......the big bulbs are the same size but have different filaments and fittings.

....... I think over 15 years and 3 x Ls400s I have changed two rear stop light bulbs, it's a regular and common occurrence when the Ls400 bulbs reach about 16 years of age :

Tut tut, your Ls430 is only 14 years !

Just pleased I could help :whistling:
