Good afternoon guys,

Today I had had enough of the noise coming from my ls430's rear end every, speed bump, dip in the road, and corners oh god I started to hear it in my sleep.

Well after 6 months of looking on the forum's and poking at the car, (changed the rear anti-roll bar bushes, silicone greased everything else up) I finally made up my mind to fix it or kill it.

After jacking the car up (hard enough on the ls with the jacking point crushed in at some point) I pulled my wheel off and pulled out my coil-over strut (like the way I said that? made it sound easy didn't I one hour and a hammer) I found the spring had come out of alignment and the rubber ring thingy had torn so allowing the end of the coil to rub against the head of a bolt.

Ok so at this point I was wondering how I was going to get it back on as I could not get my link arms off without cutting them.

I woke a friend up who went heroically went to the shops in south London and jumped on the train to bring me a set of spring compressors.

I then gave the coil a squeeze wiggled it around and refitted it all (again making it sound easy and missing out the bits which sounded like *#/*~#).

So the moral of the story is.... a squeek does not always come from the anti- roll bar bushes, I hope no one else has to do this.

Have a great days guys.

Hi Max I am not sure it is, mine got better the more weight I had in I kept the tank full for that reason.

I'm hoping with yours it will be the anti-roll bar bushes. Its easy to check now i know how... just jack it up a bit wheel not off the ground and grab ya coil and wiggle it a little bit see if it creaks.

Mine were 20 quid from eBay

Good luck mate let us know how it goes

I wonder if this what I'm hearing on my ls400. Seems to be worse when I have people in the back or I'm at least 3 up

When I had my MK4 LS400 I would occasionally get a loud creaking from the rear, it always happened when driving in stop start traffic in London, especially in the hot weather, it creaked over every bump, as soon as I got back out on the open road it stopped. I always assumed it was a bush, and probably one near the exhaust as it must have got hot causing the creaking.  I never got around to sorting it as it only happened in those conditions which became less as I took the car to London less. Spraying the bushes can help but it won't cure it and they'll need replacing, but it may help identify the problem.

Same here, or when I load up with junk for the tip.

It's going onto the list of things to look at for next service, as was told at last service all the bushes were up to scratch, and had new rear spring fitted.

To be honest it does not bother me as it is so infrequent, but anything rubbing when it should not be - I  guess - should be sorted

I get creaking from suspension, but mainly from front area if I`ve been driving at low speeds in traffic for a while, which is very often !

Put it down to either engine or exhaust warming things up more than normal due to the lack of airflow?
