miles lost forever from odometer?

Recommended Posts

Having charged my Battery, fettled the Battery terminals etc., I still have 60,000 miles missing from the odometer on my 99 series 4. Has anyone heard of this phenomenon before or is anyone aware of the cause or  a solution? Could it be as simple as the first number 6 being blacked out, and if so, when I turn 70,000 is the 7 likely to appear?

I may have to call out one of these firms who advertise to alter odometers, although I will probably be asking the opposite of what they usually do, in putting back the missing miles.

It sounds like an electronic glitch as caused this and you will be hard pressed to reinstate the miles on the readout as this is basically a lcd readout that is similar to the readout on the climate control,It differs in that it as a memory which looks to have failed

With regard to future buyers concerns over mileage history you have a service record and buyers of these cars are not to worried about well explained problems.

I have just sold my Jiffy which had no service record 10 previous owners its tenth speedometer and mileage which at best was a lottery guess but the guy who bought it as knowledge of these kit cars and is not fussed.

I know we want perfection on our LS's a suggestion I would make is put in a combination unit from a breaker and get the mileage certified on the changeover.
