New to Lexus I've seen the light!

Hello,

Just registered on here and thought i'd do a brief introduction, I'm in the process of looking for and buying technically what will be my second Lexus, i'll come back to that in a minute.

So i'm on the hunt for a low mileage GS300 2005 onward. I see there are plenty out there so it shouldn't be too long albeit most are down south literally hundreds of miles away. I am willing to travel don't get me wrong I just need to find the time.

The only thing that concerns me is this piston ring/oil usage issue that I have very recently been told possibly only effects U.S models? If anyone could verify this I would be very grateful.

So as I alluded to at the top of the post the GS will be technically my second Lexus as I bought an LS400 about 6 months ago and the engine and gearbox are currently being fitted to my 1978 Toyota Cressida Estate.

Apologies to the purists out there but the LS' body was vandalised but the engine and gearbox were, in true Lexus fashion still going strong.

So if you could be bothered to get through all that please feel free to say Hi!

bye for now.

Hello and welcome to the LOC.

I let one of my LS400s go for an engine donor project a while ago, it should be in a Vauxhall Viva hopefully by now!

Feel free to post up your Cressida pictures with the V8 sat in there, you didn't go for the manual transmission conversion then?

Not too familiar with the series III GS300 engine oil problem but if you find one around my area I would be happy to take an initial look for you and report back.

Hi Anthony and welcome to the LOC, we are a friendly bunch so please dont hold back asking questions big or small should you have any problems with your car. We always welcome ideas on how to overcome problems with our cars but as they are the finest cars in the universe they dont go wrong that often.

We always love to see pictures of your cars so don't be shy.

Happy Lexus Motoring.

Thank you both for the welcome and the offer to view a car for me before I make a long trip, much appreciated.

I have a few pictures of the work in progress, not sure which section to post them in?

No manual conversion just the standard four speed as not only do I think it suits the character of the old bus but it is a lot cheaper/easier
