Service/Warranty plan or not??

Hi Guys,

Just looking for some advice on a service plan from Lexus or elsewhere, my local Lexus had done a decent offer for a service plan. They have reduced the full Lexus service to £797, this includes 2 minor and one major. This is the same price as the Lexus Essential service.

Also been offered the 2 year warranty for £895 for my GS450h.

My issue is do I need to service the car at Lexus to keep the warranty in tack? It states at the end 'approved Lexus dealership or service point'. What is a service point?

I am writing to you today to let you know about our extended warranty on your Lexus. Purchasing a warranty will cover your vehicle for both electrical and mechanical breakdown, as well as offering comprehensive roadside assistance across the UK and Europe - for the full duration of your warranty. If your Lexus is under 10 years old, and less than 140,000miles at the point of sale, you can purchase a warranty for your car, and our Unlimited Mileage places no restriction upon your annual mileage. In the unlikely event of a breakdown of covered components, repairs will be carried out at no further cost to yourself. When it’s time for your MOT, failed components will be repaired. All you pay is your test Fee, and the first £10 of the repair. An extended warranty on your vehicle costs only £895 in one upfront payment, covering you for 24 months. All we ask… is that the vehicle is service regularly at an approved Lexus Dealership or Service Point.

I guess it can come down to the age of your car. If it's new it may be worth keeping it serviced by Lexus so you can keep the resale value.. if it's older is less of an issue. I choose to keep my 10 year old RX400 service at Lexus because they do a good job and don't mess me about. Peace of mind sometimes it's worth it.
