brakes and lpg

Recommended Posts

Hi,

New to forum and to lexus.

My 99 rx300 has a pounding brake pedal that sinks slightly even under soft braking.

Looking at the forum here - I'm suspecting reluctor ring rot or crack but possibly sensor fault.

I want a sensible priced garage to take a look but my local has refused as the car is lpg.

Does anyone know of a sensible 'sole trader' type garage near Durham that will take a look and not simply plug a diagnostic in and say "sesnor shagged" when a cracked reluctor ring may be causing the ECU to log a non-existent sensor fault?

Ta

Keith

I can't suggest a garage because I live in Preston, Lancashire, but I absolutely cannot see why your local garage would refuse because it's LPG.

What on earth has LPG got to do with the brakes? No garage has ever refused to do any job on my car in the last nine years that I've been running LPG so just take it to any other garage within a reasonable distance. All cars have brakes and any mechanic should be able to fix them - if they can't then they shouldn't be using 'mechanic' in their job title.

Hi Keith and welcome to the LOC. We are a friendly bunch so please don’t hold back asking questions big or small should you have any problems with your car. We always welcome ideas on how to overcome problems with our cars but as they are the finest cars in the universe they don’t go wrong that often.

We always love to see pictures of your cars inside and out so don't be shy.

I'm with John on the LPG/ brakes. doesn't make sense. I know that some Lexus branches wont touch them, perhaps he just doesn't like LPG.

Happy Lexus Motoring.

Mike. Bluesman.
