Auto box atf

Have had a autobox failure water problem on 2003 ls430 managed to find a replacement gearbox , what grade of oil is required   toyota  t1v fluid or toyota ws fluid or can either be used could someone please advise.

Hi there, im sure its toyota type IV you need but you also need to replace the radiator too.

Have got new radiator but think gearbox is off a 2004 or later ls430 model will Tiv fluid be ok in it or will toyota ws fluid be needed

Hold on, the 2004 gearbox is a 6 speed gearbox, so is your 2003 the earlier model or later model ls430? 

Ps id use Toyota fluid.

It's reg Nov 2003 but is facelift model with 6 speed box , replacement gearbox had toyota  ws fluid as from 2004 or later will toyota Tiv fluid be ok or does it have to toyota ws fluid

Best thing to do is call Lexus dealers now, they are open until 12 and they will be able to tell you what fluid to use. Personally id use Toyota type IV as I think thats what it says in the manual, but to be 100% sure, call Lexus.

Assuming it's the same as the pre-facelift LS it should have it stamped on the tip of the dipstick, mine says type 1V.  That's of course if the later one has a dipstick.
