I have a 2nd gen IS with manual tranny and that is why my road tax is 500 pounds rayaans... i thought that 300h's are a little bit better on fuel than 35 mpg 😟

Its all relative.

When doing low mileages, the engine is warming up for a longer proportion of the journey, hence lower fuel economy than expected.

Yes I know the IS250 Manual is £500 per year. I was referring to the 3rd Gen IS250 which may be a better option for you as they're significantly cheaper to buy all things taken into account and only £260 more to tax per year.

All depends on how long you want to keep the car and whether the tax and extra fuel cost will cost more in the long run.

My 3rd Gen IS250 is £295 road tax a year. With the DVLA monthly payments now it's  less of an issue (wife hasn't noticed) 🤑

From a HMRC mileage recovery perspective it's interesting that anything over 2000cc gets 21p a mile yet below is 13p - you'd get 21p in the 300h or 250 but 13p in the 200t. One of my reasons for moving to Lexus from a 1.8T A4 - seem to be getting the same MPG yet claiming almost double.

As i am stuck in traffic all the time i commute i expect very good mpg. The speed of the traffic is around 40mph when not stuck. I rarely do motorways ,at the moment i have bit more two hundred hungry  horses but they have no chance to break free ...

Depends on how long you're in traffic for.

If I were you, Id get a 24 hour IS300h test drive from a Lexus dealer, take it on your commute and see what MPG you get first

That is only available on cars with memory seats + mirrors.

I've just picked up a 15 plate f-sport.  In the week I have had it I have had 40 mpg on a daily comute of 8 miles each way.

Trying to get it higher but struggling. Hoping the warmer weather will influnec it a bit.

Is that 40mpg real world or dash read out?

I have a 7 month old IS300h Exec Edition and I commute to work (30 mile return journey) on 70mph dual carriageway in Eco mode (normal commute is between 50-70mph) and the computer can indicate between 40+mpg to 65mpg.  However I filled up today and looking at the fuel used and mileage since last fill up, it looks like I'm getting around 41mpg.

This is the third day i own the car and with commute and some funride around town my average is 45mpg so far. I have to adopt my driving style to this car and i think it will get even better. I love the instant torque it is not easy not to push the pedal to the metal 😃
