2018 LS F-Sport debuts in New York

Recommended Posts

Its been a few weeks since Lexus provided us with the teaser for the LS F-Sport:

Anyway, they have finally released the F-Sport version at New York today:

As can be seen from the photos above, the LS F-Sport gains a more aggressive front end. The grill surround is shadow chrome with larger functional cooling vents for the brakes on each side. The front bumper now has black lips on it akin to other vehicles in the range such as the CT, IS and GS F-Sport

The LS also gets 20" gunmetal wheels in an excluse F-Sport design and they have some meaty 245 tyres on the front and 275 tyres around the back. It will also be available with Lexus Dynamic Handling (rear wheel steering) as an option.

Additionally, the LS F-Sport gets larger brakes front and back compared to the standard LS

Interior

The F-Sport treatment extends to the interior with exclusive interior options such as the F-Sport black which is shown above. This specific combination has unique perforations on the seats, steering wheel and gear selector. Alcantara has also been utilised for the seats and the F-Sport gets aluminium pedals as standard.

As all F-Sport models, the LS F-Sport will get a digital LFA style instrument cluster.

Additionally, expect to see a few more exclusive colours such as Rose red or White seats although they have not been confirmed as yet.

Engines

Two engines may be chosen. The LS500 comes with a 3.5l twin turbo V6 with 415hp and a 0-60mph time of 4.5s (this is as fast as the RC-F!). The hybrid option uses a 3.5l V6 engine with a lithium ion Battery pack, multistage transmission and electric motors to propel the car to 60mpg in 5.2s which is still impressive.

Oh dear. Trying way too hard. The LS in my view has been a car about elegance. Throwing that many add-ons and trinkets to the body just doesn't work. Kind of a car you would see at the SEMA show. Then there's the interior. The door card design - yuk. The little dial stuck on the dash like the LFA - err no. List goes on.

One thing is for certain - that stance is probably the best one going in the class

Not too sure on the colour though, it probably looks better in something darker - say black!
