I need a replacement daily drive

Recommended Posts

They rattle and I'd  have to deal with Lexus  even more than I do now :(

I didn't see that one coming!

14 mile trip there ???? 14 mile trip back??? Have you considered an electric bike? Before you say "But when it rains...." buy a wetsuit!

Busy dual carriageway

GS450h, RX400h, Passat CC, Grand Cherokee, Jag S-Type or XF, or a 7 Series BMW?

I like your thinking with the Skoda and Saab, plenty of other Volvos too.

Dav hi, have you ever thought of a Ls400 ?  old but as sharp as a needle for acceleration and speed when you want it, wafting around for sure, supreme comfort and longevity, very reliable and very few bills if you get the right one.........................  and a quarter of your budget probably

I've thought about this daily driver thing on and of for a while. Yes, it would be cheaper to have an econobox to do the commute in, however, it wouldn't put a smile my face every day like the F does.

I used a Ct200h for a while when I was getting the paint sorted on my F, came to the renewed conclusion that life is too short to spend the hours behind the wheel that I do driving something that's less engaging than the F.

So yes, the fuel cost is more than I necessarily have to pay and I'm aware that I'm clocking up some depreciation, however my daily travels are a lot more fun than they otherwise would be and I know that the F is always going to work/not let me down, which is important when I'm doing nearly 20k a year.

I feel the same. Couldn't leave the F on the drive each morning, would rather sell it and have a complete change.

Or maybe an Alfa Brera or Spider. Do a 2.4 diesel version.

Chrysler 300C?

Used to have a brera, nice looking car but although it's sold as a 2+2, it's a 2 seater.

Beautiful car though, totally reliable, only cost me £2400 for an engine rebuild 3 weeks into ownership!!!!

It's a piece of art, not a car.  Just leave it on the driveway where it belongs.

I don't leave mine on the drive! It's in the garage! ;)

Having a slight issue with that at the moment. A pair of swallows have decided to nest in one of our garages - and it just had to be the one that the F lives!

Out comes the car cover guess :)

Not a bad looking car, not sure on the interior but an option that hadn't come up before....

I'll have to do something soon - I had to take the F to work yesterday!!!!!

@Flytvr Couple of things about that the people paying the RS4 attention were they 'wearing ski masks and carrying baseball bats '

The kind of attention that VAG performance cars get with massive regularity is when the owner is in bed with his family from this kind of individual, bent on relieving you of it no matter what Security measures you have in place.

It is an undeniable common occurrence, whereas as you with an equally impressive car and in many ways superior car can soundlysleep safe in the knowledge that they are not the slightest bit interested in it,even if they were to make that arduous trek up your driveway 😂

Good point, often overlooked that it's lack of attention is a huge benefit in other ways! Just be careful if you're ever in Bradford and decide to pop into Morrissons for coffee and cake......
