Effects of WD40

Creaking could be the rubber bushes or could be rusted/worn ball joints.

Not sure I'd use WD40, it's primarily a water displacer, not a lubricant. Silicone spay might be better.

You'll get as many people argue WD40 kills rubber components on cars as you would saying it's harmless, I'm not aware of anything on a car that's made of rubber, and there are many more contaminants on the road attacking your car.

I spray it on everything that stands still long enough.

For squeaky bushes silicone spray is best but replacing the bush would be a better solution.

You could always use WD-40 silicone lubricant.... :)

As previously mentioned you'll find lots of passion for and against.

I was always taught that any petroleum based liquid product was more solvent and therefore not rubber friendly as it had a drying effect and accelerated it degrading.

But modern bushes are polyurethane and much more resilient to all substances.

Well further investigation found that the creaking was my new front anti roll bar bushes.

I went for the silicone spray approach and I'm glad to report it worked. I got in the car the next morning and all was quiet. Yay.

Alas, in the evening the creaking was back and there all the time as apostrophe to only over big bumps when it first started.

I going to hit it with WD40. I'll report back.

Well the WD40 didn't work. I have since had the bushes out again, covered them in red silicone rubber grease and reassembled it all. Jobs a goodun. No more creaks

Surely replacement would be a more permanent fix? I'm pretty sure the noise will come back to be honest.

If you read the post 8 again you will find they are new bushes.
