A rookie question

I've just come out of a company car and bought a Lexus ct200. It's telling me today it's due an oil change and service, but is 4600 miles off the next 10k. Do I just ignore it and wait until it hits the mileage? I thought all cars these days had service intervals based on mileage rather than time so am confused why it's saying it's due. Is this something the garage has set when they last did it? (never had to worry about such things in my company car!) cheers

how long have you had the car and where did you buy it from,if you bought it from lexus then i would be

asking them to complete the service free of charge as it sounds that you have only had the car for a short time

i.e. less than a month,if you bought it from a non lexus dealership then maybe they have completed a service

but not known how to reset the service interval, i would certainly ask the questions as an oil & filter change

is in the region of £260 for the CT.
