Could anyone inform me as to whether there is a difference between the transmissions fitted to Mk4 LS400's and my 95 plate

I ask as I have a filter kit for a MK4

The 95-97 LS400 uses the Aisin A340 4 speed transmission, the series IV uses the Aisin A650 5 speed transmission, the filter you have is therefore likely to be unsuitable for a 95 model year.

Having cars with both of those transmissions and serviced both of them recently I can confirm that the filters are different.

Tip: only use the correct, Toyota approved sealant to reseal the pan, which is ThreeBond TB1281B. Not cheap, but Toyota approved (and it works better than anything else I've tried.)

Definitely Type IV. Later A340s in late model Soarers also specced Type IV, oddly enough.

I bought my fluid and filter from America when I previously had an LS400 

Amazingly with shipping and import charges it was cheaper than buying in this country. Go figure about rip off Britain!
