Sigh, don't remind me mate. Traded it in 2010 for a Monaro and have regretted it ever since. At the time I wanted shot of it because its valve stems were smoking a little and the suspension felt like it needed attention , re bushing etc. I know naff all really but I was ready for a change at the time I guess.

Thats a stunner! Looks in great condition! And i spy a beetle too

Sorry Rob. Your 2JZ project is great and all that but can you just hang on while we talk about the stone age air-cooled flat four for a few pages? Especially the one in an orange '68-'72 1300 running on what could possibly be Empis.

@rob_clio172 thanks mate. Aye she was tidy at the time lowered on TRD shocks but bodywork stock. I hate big kits on them with a passion. This one was exported to Switzerland apparently.

@rich1068 lol mate your spot on with the bug. 73 1300 with empis running a 2ltre stroker motor with twin 44 IDF's lol. I'd put a pic up but don't won't to hijack the thread.

Im not a fan of mad extreme kits on supras just because of how they came from factory is just pretty much perfect. On the other hand i dont mind some kits or wide arch conversions depending on the car and how its carried out, another update coming up....

Well santa came again today, been to mine a fair few times recently 😂 this is quite possibly the one thing ive been most excited about!! I ordered this around 4weeks ago from a company called madcat industries.

Its a 2jz-ge inlet manifold, comes with a fuel rail, 90mm throttle body (HUGE) and all the fixings, o-rings, blanking plates and brackets.

It really is a work of art, that throttle body is so god damn big!!! The quality of it and the welds are amazing! I really cannot wait to see this lot thrown together and how it will look in the bay

Lovely piece of engineering. You must be top of Santa's nice list this year. Even if they are from Oz, I wish his elves could think about doing some nice performance stuff like that for the 3UZ.

All that, a wife (with a big dvd habit?) AND you have to walk the dog! Kudos to you-I guess, like Maggie T -reputedly- you get by on 4 hours sleep a night?

Those of us who just wash our cars each Spring are totally blown away.

Great project thread Robert. My kind of project

Look forward to following along.

Thanks matey, coming along slow at the min, rod bearings are now ordered and also had to order a piston ring filer so should be back on it 1st or 2nd week in to the new. I have been doing something else in the mean time not on the engine but not going to ruin the suprise until ive finished it and can get all the pics together

So then as i gave away in my last post i have been working on something else whilst waiting for the rod bearings to come.

Ive done a little mod to the rear lights just to make them a little more individual and stand out, ive always loved the look of the rear lights so i didnt want to change them too much.

So 1st of all i had to strip them down, now these are not sealed using a sealant they are like plastic welded together so for this i had to use a dremel to remove the lens.

20171217_130008.thumb.jpg.485621d91892075715b049dce0a43c37.jpg20171217_131621.thumb.jpg.3586735dafa3f0ab4260e5bf3d59d54d.jpg20171217_133203.thumb.jpg.7aaf16af9c59ed49611a98ace1b97638.jpg20171217_133222.thumb.jpg.ffb55c4cd5e6d7d22923a88753a8bfa7.jpg

once the lens was off had to split the backing from the smoked chrome insert, this was pretty simple and just unclips off.

20171217_134328.thumb.jpg.4ba69188bf5d9b970ccc0a19d83333bf.jpg20171217_134345.thumb.jpg.c4a5542b4c13b88820fb96d6afd91396.jpg

then i popped off the red lens cap to access the side light/brake light housing.

20171217_134721.thumb.jpg.f924ea17178d0baf1225157718a2eb75.jpg20171217_134741.thumb.jpg.24d9a993f68c60ad7047e65eebde3b42.jpg20171217_134932.thumb.jpg.bde492854c43e234accb5946c713a0d6.jpg

Now for the good bit, i wanted to convert the side lights to halo LEDs, now i know the rear lights already are kind of halo looking because of the reflector in the middle of the red lens cap but i want a more obvious sharp clear look to them.

For this i ordered an LED halo ring and used a glue gun to secure it inside the lens cap.

20180105_122008.thumb.jpg.4ea5a87465eaace16ec2b9efeac1a28d.jpg

Then i had to cut a small hole to allow the wires to go back through.

20180105_121448.thumb.jpg.c2231958825ab7b8e90a072fda94c604.jpg

I also had to do this for the backing of the light too.

20180106_213111.thumb.jpg.1cd496fd131fa2f41275d666af881db6.jpg

Now i didnt get any pictures of the reassembly of this as it just clips together apart from the outer lens cover and this was messy as hell. I was going to use clear sealant but i changed my mind and decided to use black as it would look better and less obvious where i cut the lens. Also its easier to see if a bit gets somewhere you dont want it to be and its too late to wipe off. This was pretty tricky but got it done.

20180106_213749.thumb.jpg.7774cf391f05569f48b6dc3cdea57e4e.jpg

Now i did test it before i sealed the lens on just incase it didnt work... heres the results......

I am over the moon with how it looks!! Now i cannot take credit for this as a saw this done by a guy on youtube, im glad i found it though as the idea i already had in my head before i saw his video it just showed me the way to go about it.

Once back on the car i will use the sidelight feed to light the LED up and leave the feed for the brake light on the original bulb.

I have not stopped there....... i wanted the USA look rear lights using halos so i also pulled the fog lights out and pulled these apart.

Same again i had to use the dremel to open them up.

Got some more done today back on the engine, weather was not ideal for this but its 1 of those jobs ive been meaning to do since having the engine stripped. It was time to paint everything and make it look nice and fresh.

I removed the oil filter housing first as this was still on the block then i got the block masked up...

20180107_134244.thumb.jpg.8c144802c5b750d9c167a269e955f74a.jpg20180107_134255.thumb.jpg.8bc7a64284c3b60b8ff6ad9305af8899.jpg

The block was cleaned off and it left just a bit of surface rust but wasnt too bothered about this, i then did 3 coats of high temp hammerite satin black. I was going to go for gloss but i figured satin would be better if i ever had any sort of a leak and also it looks just a little more subtle.

20180107_150434.thumb.jpg.f20f8ccab615b530aa0dcf7810f2c9a4.jpg

Whilst i was at it i also cleaned up the engine mount brackets and the oil filter housing and gave them a blast of aluminium paint and got them fitted back on the block.

20180107_153245.thumb.jpg.d92f605e32593de8a60fdf3fb5ac2382.jpg20180107_153252.thumb.jpg.58ed4ce0eecdf7b2e0edf2fb3ee7b8c5.jpg20180107_195854.thumb.jpg.d3dfe4756046f4889c29f773845596cc.jpg

i also masked up the secondary sump and got that painted again in alluminium paint and this also turned out pretty good.

20180107_162855.thumb.jpg.9ffd343644c30de46845c027b68dc90c.jpg

and thats it for now, will hopefully  be doing the piston ring gaps pretty soon as i now have a proper ring filer, this is going to be a very long tedious job as ive got to do both compression rings of each piston
