After some help - loss of power

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, i’m after some help.  My ageing father has a 2010 is220d.  Whilst being mostly reliable it has lately developed a bizarre and worrying issue where his accelerator effectively stops working!  He gets no warning lights and the engine is just ticking over, so he ends up crawling home on the tick over torque of his engine. Then the next time he goes to his car it’s all working again!  But a straight “turn it off and back on again” doesn’t fix it...

The dealers have had a look but there’s no errors and of course when he taken it in it’s working ok.  Does this ring any bells with anyone / anyone got any suggestions?

Any help greatly appreciated!

you can get ODBII  diagnotic tools which record live data .. might be worth using one of those to get an idea when this intermittant problem occurs.

Also... is there any black smoke comming out the back?
