SE-L spec vs SEspec ?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2016 IS300h SE-L Navi model.  I can figure out what the Navi means, but can’t find any details of what extra you get over the standard SE spec for the SE-L.

It isn’t listed as a model option on the Lexus website .

I thought that the SE-L model designation was for the IS Mk 2 and not the IS300H.

SE, Executive, Advance and Premier are the Mk3 models with the Premier being the top trim level.

Someone more with more knowledge than me will put you right.

An IS300H SE-L doesn't exist.

Oh it does.

Its on all my documents, my V5, Service books etc.

See below details of my car from the Lexus website..

It has half leather so the L can't mean that.

It does have a few extras onto of SE.  Nav, keyless entry etc.

Well it's not an official Lexus Trim level

The only thing I can think of is SE launch model but that'd only be true if it was an early 2013

I think it means an IS 300h SE with optional Navigation.

It isn't SE-L Navi it is SE L-Navi (Lexus navigation)

Insurance companies would have SE and SE L-Navi listed as two different grades, as they are different factory options. Otherwise you would have to declare an SE with options.

That seems to make sense.

So the L is attached to the Navi and not the SE.

L-Navi is a strange abbreviation for Navigation as it is not going to be made by anyone other than Lexus (L) !!

If you look at the spec list posted above  it lists 'Lexus Navigation' and 'Lexus Premium Navigation' as options so it appears to be the official designation.

SE-L spec is a Mercedes-Benz level.of spec and it means long wheel base.

I think it's a miss print which has gone un noticed and carried on.

Lexus have also used SE-L as a grade in the past however they don't on the current generation. There is no misprint in the this case as it isn't an SE-L, it is an SE L-Navi.

We are currently on the third generation (series) of IS.

1999 - 2005   IS200/300 (1998 - 2005 as the Toyota Altezza in Japan)

2005 - 2012   IS250/IS250C/IS220d/IS200d/IS F

2013 -             IS250/IS300h/IS200t

Following Toyota's standard lifecycle each series lasts around 7 years with a major facelift mid-cycle. Minor cosmetic changes occur yearly.

Trim grades have changed with each series. There have been tweaks between the years, and some special editions, but roughly they are:

Series 1   IS200 (base), SE, Sport

Series 2   IS250 (base), SE, SE-L, Sport

                  SE, SE-I, SE-L, F-Sport

Series 3   SE, Luxury, F Sport, Premier

SE, Executive, Sport, Advance, Luxury, F Sport, Premier

Technically, there's 3 versions of the IS300h though.

The first was between 2013-2015 and then 2015-2017 (Autotrader showing this up) where the engine and gearbox were tweaked a bit resulting in lower emissions and more fuel economy. And then, we recently had the facelift after 2017MY

How do you know if you have a pre or post 2015 changes ?   Any obvious spec change, figures etc?

Does the mid 2015 model show an emissions output of 107 gm, as opposed to the 2013-2015 300h having an output of 109 gm ?

Parkman.

Yes, although it is dependant on the wheel size.

up to 2015, CO2 for 16/17/18" wheels were 99/103/109 and mid 2015 onwards is 97/101/107 g/km.

I bought a Gen III 300h, very late 2013 model, and I remember noticing that there was this difference between emissions output figures. I often thought that it must have been an error on behalf of the people advertising the later models !!

Thanks for the clarification.

Parkman.
