Tool to trace 12v wire when it's active

I have one of those live wire testers that works on mains voltage. If the wire is live and you take the test and touch anywhere near the wire it beeps. Does anyone know if there is anything equivalent for a car's 12V supply? I don't want to have to sleeve and expose wire to test if that is the wire I am looking for

If I recall correctly, those 240v testers work only because the current is AC.  So a tester that works on 12v dc might not exist.

Peter is correct, you can't use a Cable tracer on DC cables as it utilises the magnetic field generator by AC.

You can get multimeter probes with a very sharp point that screw down and penetrate insulation with a tiny hole. A bit of tape around it afterwards to be safe.
