Bent LS400 rod - anyone have a spare?

Morning all,

Bit of an issue with my otherwise lovely 1998 LS, really hope someone can help!

A leaky injector hydrolocked my VVTi engine :wallbash:  - You can see the result below:

A member from another (non-Lexus) car forum sent me some replacement pistons, but they're from a non VVTi engine, as you can see here (the more pocketed piston is from my engine):

My question to the members on this forum - does anyone have a spare VVTi rod and piston assembly they're willing to send me for beer tokens?

I spent all of last weekend getting the bent rod out on my parents' driveway, it was a bit of a nightmare to be honest! Had to strip the engine down, then hoist it up whilst dropping the subframe so that I could remove number 1 oil pan. It would be a real shame now that I've got to this stage to give up, but it's starting to feel like it might go that way :(

Really hope you can help! I absolutely loved this car when I bought it - my first Lexus and hopefully the only one I ever need.

Cheers,

James

Not sure if this might help ............  there was a member on here a year or so back who had a major VVTi engine issue ( engine replaced maybe ? )

Find that post and that might lead somewhere .......

You can buy the con rod as shown below from Lexus for around £150.00, part number       13201-50030  plus you will need the big end bearing caps.  Are you sure there is no damage to the crank?

Problem with a secondhand part is most people sell the complete engine not parts of it.

Thank you for your reply - that assembly price is more reasonable than I thought!

The piston skirt is scuffed where its rubbed on the crank (I didn't have a look on the counter weight for matching damage), but the big end machined surface in the crank looks OK to me. The bore seems OK too.

I'll have a call with Lexus tomorrow to get prices. Is toyodiy a good place for part numbers?

Thanks :)
