17 Or 18s

im picking up my lexus is200 tomorrow im going to change the wheels but im not sure weather to fit 17s or 18s basiclly with the car fully loaded will i get problems with the wheels rubbing the arches with the standard suspension and low profiles :unsure:

From my experience, having the 18inch rim looks great but the downside is the initial take off speed as compared to the 17inch is much slower which mean a little sluggish.

Offcours.

The bigger the wheel the slower the acceleration and the higher the top speed.

The smaller the wheel the higher the acceleration and the lower the top speed.

No you should be keeping the diameter of the combined rim and tyre the same otherwise your speedo/odometer will be out.

However a 18" rim is normally heavier than a 17" one and because it is a rotating mass the extra weight is about 4 times greater than just a static mass.

e.g. if your new wheels/tyres weigh an extra 4Kg each that is 16Kg for all 4 wheels and it has the effect of a 64Kg weight in the car.
