that is a strange problem...

By the sounds of it the heat brings the dash lights on... Have you checked the fuses under the hood? Maye there is a dry connection somewhere and the heat causes the joint to expand??

Just a suggestion

Maybe you should take the car into have a diagnoses or buy a hand held diagnoses machine and get the error code and ask Lexus what the error code means.

Hi 2seconds.

Somewhere tucked away you have an inverter circuit to convert the 12 volts to a higher ac to 'strike' the fluorescent display. This has gone faulty.

The fact that it comes on eventually means it probably is repairable for anyone with electronics knowledge. It is probably a dry joint or failing capacitor.

Otherwise, replacement may be a Lexus arm and a leg job.

I expect it to be a printed circuit board and probably somewhere behind the dash display.

Hopefully it is not part of a larger PCB with more general functionality. I remember diagnosing and replacing a diode and soldered-in fuse on a Jag dash controller at a component cost of less than 50p - Jaguars wanted £500 for a new board!

May be time to visit the local Lexus dealer and take a look at their manual.
