92 LS400 dashboard lights BAD

my 92 LS400 dashboard light comes on as well as the gages and then turns off. What is the problem? Any ideas? Thanks.

Does your car have the light sensor on the dashboard lights. If so it could be this misbehaving. Do you have the 2 stage reostat i.e. a click when turning fully clockwise which switches the light sensors off.

i have the same problem with the dash lights. it just gets worse with increasing time periods before it corrects itself.

my local dealer will simply replace the whole dashboard display for a cost of over £1200 as well zeroing my milage. i am amazed that they dont have a simpler fix for it since they said that several other cars have had the same thing. my frustration is that although my ls400 is an m registered vehicle it only has 16000 miles on it. i think this is a manufacturing flaw rather than a wear and tear flaw.

does anyone out there know wnyone who can fix this for less than a lot of money. it should be just a broken or flawed component somewhere .... :tumble:

After rebuilding several dashboards, the only problem I found was bad solder connections on the big circuit board behind the dash. Also check the dimmer switch.:D
