Finally changed the air con filter to a new pollen one. Its been sitting in the kitchen for ages

Had a quick read of Mat's knowledge base guide and the job took about 2mins :D

Problem has now gone :D

Thanks to Chris S for supplying :winky:

just a thought about the kettle idea, one flaw with the whole thing, the bacteria that creates the smell requires quite high temps to be killed off.

steam is about 100C, and as soon as it leaves the water surface/kettle it is cooling down quite quickly so by the time it has reached the evaporator its going to be quite cool - impossible for it to kill the bacteria.

What i suspect is happening is collecting on the filter, soaking that a bit and then stopping whatever thats making the smell from going into the airstream.

to properly clean the aircon on the IS you need an aircon spray that u place in the footwell - dont bother with the ones that have a long tube attached - u wont get it anywhere the evaporator.
