Some of you might remember me asking about orange peel. All Lexus suffer from it. Hell 90% of cars have it!

Enough is Enough i have to get rid of.

I know i won't get rid of it 100%... but heres how today turned out.

Have to say massive thanks to Colin P, what a gent! He sent me the following

Porter Cable Polisher (with counterweight and velcro backing pad attatched)

Power Invertor

Extension Lead

Meguiars detailing clay and quick detailer spray

3 Sonus Polisher Pads (Orange, Blue, Green)

Sonus Shampoo (new bottle)

Sonus SFX 1 (use with orange pad) & 2 (use green pad)

Klasse All in one (use with blue pad)

Klasse Sealant Glaze

Pinnacle Souvereign Carnuba Wax

I also bought some Alu Belgom metal Polish, seems to be very rated amoungst polishing veterans!

Anyway this is todays efforts... So on with the pics!!!!

Thanks guys.

I used 1200 grit which were soaked overnight. It did clog up, although every stroke was applied with my holding a hose pipe on spray mode so it was fresh and clean.

I Should say, i tried to get 1500, 2000 and 3000 grit, but no once local had any.

The Meguairs Unigrit sand paper is supposed to be good, although couldn't get hold of any.

I will say, you need to have Alot of patience. I have prior experience from working in a bodyshop...

Also, the pics.... Its ONLY been SFX-1 so far!!!!

Imagine it when the other 4 stages are complete B) B) B)

Wow - looks like a big improvement mate :D

So how long does it take to do the wet sanding - and can it be done on clear coats like mine easily?

Looking forward to seeing the finished article, keep hearing how good this Sonus stuff is and wow!

lol

It can be done to any colour, but it depends how thick the paint is.

You really want to get the paint depth measured, there is a special device for this.

I had bit more confidence and just went for it!

Good for you Mr Singh :D

My car could do with a good polish up. Only had the full respray a few months back.

The paint is about half an inch thick :duh: got over 8 litres of Candy Red on mine, at least I know it will never rust :D

I'd like to book my car in with "Singh's Body Specilaists" too :D (I'm sure I have heard of a place called that in Bradford...anyway :D )

I admire your guts! The car looks truely fantastic! You've started abit early however haven't you to win JAE Show and Shine 2006? :P

BIG UP to Colin too for providing all that great stuff! Great Guy! :D I suppose you are going to repay the favour and do his car too? lol:

OMG, that is an awesome finish. I get tired just washing the car, let alone the whole routine you're going through! :hehe:

Looks excellent though - have said many times to people, black cars are a pain to keep clean, but when waxed and polished up, they look amazing!

Nice one Singh. B)

Looking good there!

I have now had mine wet sanded twice since the re-spray, first of just a nib and polish to level the paint and then a second one a month later once the paint had settled more.

gonna have a third one done once the new paint has had 4-6 months settling as then it will be final.

although im lucky to have a friend who works in a body shop to do mine for me, lol.

That is cool!!

SANDPAPER

I have always wanted to try buffing a car but never got round to it! Even buffing worries me as I think that I will ruin the paint but. . . . . .

. . . SANDPAPER :crybaby:

Those must be huge klangers you got there Singh!!!! B)

BTW is there any post on here telling how to buff a car without damaging paint???
