Hi all,

My cd player has the awful err 3 message and I have been looking for a new/used cd player for weeks. Does anyone have one for sale? It's getting quite desperate now, I've missed out on 2 on eBay by a fiver! Please help! My car is an IS200 SE 2000 (V) model. The cd player is model number 13902 and has two plugs at the rear of the unit. Hope someone can help.

Sally

yep, as above, try and get a replacement out of your local Lexus dealer. Failing that AutoSound can repair Lexus CD units (search for Autosound in google)

I don't suppose your car was in the later months of 2000 ? It's just that I don't know if you know but there is a 5 year warranty on your head unit - take it back and try them out. If you don't ask you don't get. :D

is this true about the 5 year warranty on cd unit i have same problem does anybody know how you sort it out with lexus

Yep, 5 year warranty on the stereo. Just ring your nearest Lexus dealer and tell them the problem.

I had mine replaced free of charge just 6 days before the warranty ran out!

I am not so lucky, I knew about the err3 problem so checked it was working when I was buying my is200 sport (2000) and it was working fine. 2 weeks later it is broken :( (Err3). I have a bottom slot "13902"

After speaking to Lexus engineer he has told me that as mine is 6 yrs old it cannot be replaced for free. Also he says although the newer top slot type would fit in the dash it has different connectors on the back. I asked how much for the "13902" part and he said £1200 (that’s not a typo lol).

So the options I have are

1 get a replacement 13902 second hand - does anyone have one that’s avoided the err3 for sale?

2 get a newer top load unit and do some wiring as the connectors don’t match (Lexus said they would let me have wiring diagrams) - does any one have one of these newer cd players for sale?

3 get an after market unit which will probably look rubbish unless I go for a DVD one with a flip out screen :P

4 get it repaired, however when I had it out of the dash a small piece of plastic - looks to be part of one of the cd trays fell out so I’m not holding out much hope for the repair. Anyone know roughly how much they would charge?

i had the ERR3 on my old unit - i ended up taking it apart to get the cds out, it wasnt a simple task as popping off a cover, all the side panels overlapped so you had to take everything off.

i have had the odd ERR3 on the replacement but i switched it off and fiddle with the buttons and it worked fine afterwards
