I have recently purchased an IS200 (99 on a 'V')

There seems to be a lot of tyre noise from the fronts. Is it the 45's on Michelin pilots ?

I have been reading that a certain amount is to be expected

The 17" wheels do kick up quite a bit of road noise. I've tried a couple of different types of tyres and it hasn't made much difference.

I recently swithed from Bridgestones to Goodyear F1's. B)

The Goodyears are definately louder than the Bridgestones.

But I find the Goodyears offer much better feedback and grip.

You pays your money, you takes your choice...

For what it's worth, I have Dunlop's SP9000 front/SP2000 rear, and they are quite noisy, and offer poor grip.

Would prefer to have Goodyears (personal choice) - or maybe try the pilots - anybody able to compare Dunlops/Pilots?

I've only ever had Bridgestones and have found them pretty noisy, I certainly wouldn't want to change to something even noisier.

Yep - had all four pilots when I bought the car and have changed my back two to dunlops in the last 6 months. Have found the Dunlops to be a harder compound, which is great for low wear but not so good for grip (particularly in the wet :duh: ). Both look good as a tyre and both have similar tread patterns. I too would go for Goodyears next - but I'm not keeping my 17's.........

you should try swapping the 9000's for 2000's!!! Absolutely no grip at all (miine is a company car so I don't get a say in what Lex Leasing put on it!).

At least the assymetrical pattern on the 9000's cleared some of the water!

I have test driven an IS200 ^with dunlops and it was too noisy. my altezza has bridgestones and i can't hear any noise. Maybe the stereo is too loud. They are bridgestone GRIP 11. Cant find them here.

going for Toyo proxes next. found a dealer in germany for approx £80.00 fitted.
