Hi all, my friends are all telling me that it is a waste of money fitting a tracker to an IS200. It seems i can only get unbiased views from this forum. Could you please answer the following:

On a standard IS200 SE (Brand New) would you spend £700 on a Tracker, or be happy with a $70 Disklok sterring lock, or none of the above?? thanks.

Sorry, i don't think i was very clear in my question as it reads like my previous thread. Basically i am just after a gauge of votes one way or the other. The numbers game will convince me and the pals once and for all. Thanks in advance for the input.

When I got my IS200 I was happy with the fact it won the What Car security award and that it was the first car to score 100% in their tests so I didn't opt for a tracker even though I live in a built up area. And I really couldn't be bothered fitting a steering wheel lock everytime I got in/out of the car.

The security issue does bother me as i am in outer London, but i am in two minds as to whether an additional £700 is worth it, especially as my insurance company does not offer any tracker discounts. I have tried quotes from other insurance companies that do offer a tracker discount, but these are always more expensive than my current insurance company. Should i risk it???????, or am i imagining the risk??

The What Car award impressed me too - the car beat the bmw 3 series (and everyone else) and stood up to attacks for 5+ minutes after which time thieves are meant to move onto easier targets. Sooo I've opted for no additional security. As the security gets old and easier to break I might start using my autolok again - the half disk steering wheel lock that also manages the 5+ minutes, unless that becomes beatable.
