I read a book recently where they said that pre-Aug 1992 LS400s can be legally "decatted" which improves both performance and economy.

Are they suggesting taking out the cat converters? Has anyone ever done that?

There was a number given for company called BBR.

YES, any car PRE-1992 is before the Cat-Test for MOTs...

I suppose, STRICTLY speaking, you're STILL not supposed to

tamper with 'emmisions' of a vehicle ?!

but, NO the car will NOT be 'Cat'-tested at it's MOT

(wether the emmisions will be too high for a normal test is

another matter ?)

As my Dad's just bought a '91 Celsior, I'd be interested to

hear if anyone else has de-catted their LS400 yet TOO ? ? ?

I found a place which can de-cat LS400s

They are called BBR ( 01280 702389).

Found them on a website called www.honestjohn.co.uk (good website - tells you what to look out for on LS400s, when you look at the review)

Hi

De-catting your LS400 will cause engine management problems as there are a total of 4 lambda sensors in the exhaust system 2 before each cat on the left hand and the right hand system and 2 fitted after the cat they work total independant and have to sense different gases to make the management system work correctly. best of luck if you want it to run properly ever again.

LUBIGO

The mkIV Supra has TWO Lambda Sensors (on the ONE cat)...

the "second" sensor (AFTER cat') IS a Lambda Sensor, but only

LOOKS at the resultant gases... after decatting the Supra the

Management system works PERFECTLY ! !

Why is the Lexus (SORRY, Toyota !) any different ? ?

Can we hear from anyone who has actually decatted

a 400 or Celsior ? ? ?.....................................
