Yikes. I used to have a similar problem. You are probably doing the same as I was- filling it with cheap Jet/Total unleaded. I think a lot of my mpg problems were down to that also, as since having the service I then put in £15 of Jet unleaded and it lasted about a day and a half! So, I limped back to Shell and filled with £15 worth of V-power (the champagne of petrols) and the car has been running great and is still going 2 days later. Huge difference!

I only ever get clouds coming out the back with the cheap unleaded, never with the expensive stuff. I have spoken to so many people about this and some say its just condensation that has formed inside the exhaust, whilst others insist its unburned petrol that makes the clouds. Having considered both points of view and my own circs with low mpg, etc and when you consider that there would have to be an awful lot of condensation to form that amount of cloud from the exhaust, I have concluded that it is unburnt petrol.

I'm looking at getting the K&N filter and the Denso sparks, but then I'm also looking at my monthly budget planner and weeping uncontrollably! But then if I dont make the move I probably never will!

What did you have done to improve your mileage?
