i bloody hope not

It is true. Small price to pay in the grand scheme of things really. I just taxed, insured, MOTed and serviced mi IS300 and didn't get much change from £1200. I certainly didn't purchase a Lexus thinking it would be cheap to run!

Thats not bad - im looking at that being my tax and insurance bill alone on my standard IS200SE :tsktsk: :crybaby: :shutit:

Still, its a lovely car and i dont begrudge the cost :shifty: :winky:

Just checked on Parkers website, they have a tax calculator, and say that a 200 is banf F, and that it will be £210 quid to tax.

So don't know what to believe. If it is 400, I've got til June to save up.

Its still a bit stupid tho, cos our cars are worth next to nothing compared to like a brand new Range Rover V8 Supercharged, so its us that are being punished cos we've worked hard to afford a bit of luxury, but its really not gonna bother the chelsea tractor brigade (who I thought were supposed to be the targets) who spend 50k+ on range rovers and X5s that they have to pay 400 odd quid, its a small percentage of they're cars value.

i think it means if it were new it would be 400 quid and then less the year after

If you have an IS200 registered after 1st March 2001 then from 2009-10 VED will be £415 and 2010-11 VED will be £430. The figures for IS300 will be £440 and £455 respectively.

The £400 tax bracket for cars with over 225g/KM CO2 is only for cars registered on or after 23/03/06.

For IS200/300 registered before this date, but after 01/03/2001, then the new cost of Road Tax is £210 from 13/03/2008.

Anyone that owns an IS250 Manual registered after 23/03/06 will now be paying £400 per year in Tax, but I think the Auto version manages to sneek into the lower band of £210.

It isn't clear whether the tax bands for 2009/10 apply to new cars or exisiting cars when they come into force next year.

I hope I've got all that right. I've been following the tax bands closely recently, having just bought a Toyota Prius, with it's tiny £15 per year tax!

Nice to know you needed to be a mind reader back in 2001.

At first post 2001 models were cheaper to tax than pre 2001. Now it appears those of us with pre 2001 cars are the luckier ones.

I wonder if that will make (for instance) a dec 2000 car more valuable than a mar 01 car, due to the tax benifits.

interesting.

Have i mentioned before that the gov are a bunch of ROBBERS!

I believe its called extortion :)

Man talk about bad timing - i bought my March 31st 2001 registered SE 2 weeks ago - if i'd known this 1st March 01 tax hike was in store i probably would have gone for a 2000 car.

Oh well hindsight is a wonderful thing.

And to the poster who said the post 1st March 01 - 06 cars will be £210, i don't know where you got this figure from, but as far as i can tell, ALL post 1st March 2001 IS's will be £400.

Edited to add - actually, according to this, i think you are right:

Car tax chart

It would seem that Band G (£400/year) is only for those cars registered AFTER 23/3/06 - is this right? That means us March 01 through to 22nd March 06 owners still only have to pay £210 (i.e. we fall into band F).

Can any owner who has a car registered in this bracket please comment?

Thanks
