I have arranged a sprint day at Barkston Heath (Grantham) later in the year.

While all motorsport is dangerous sprinting is maybe the safest. Its you & your car against the clock.

Barkston has lots of run off areas as well.

what the course is like is below

looking at £80 ish for the day which will run from 10 til 4 pm with as many runs as possible.

There will be timing gear so I'll be sorting classes out

We could get some trophies sorted and have a bit of fun.

Could have classes by model type sub divided into N/A or F/I....not sure on that though

need 30 to make it a goer :whistling:

PLEASE NOTE --- YOU WILL NEED A HELMET AND YOUR ARMS/LEGS MUST BE COVERED. YOU ALSO NEED TO MARK YOUR TOWING EYE POINTS IN YELLOW TAPE (SO MARSHALLS CAM TOW YOU OFF QUICKLY IF YOU NEED IT)

EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE ON 2/11/2008

Take:

- Driving Licence

- Breakdown Service details

Clothing:

- if you have a racesuit - wear it.. a lot of people do now

- if you havent then stick with natural fibres and long sleeved top (not fleece .. as these burn very well... sorry to be morbid but....) and long trousers - thin soles shoes or race boots

- driving gloves or race gloves ... your hands get sweaty from the nerves and these help you keep a grip on the steering wheel

- helmet .. get one that fits and is in good condition (preferably your own so that you know it hasnt been dropped etc)

Car:

pre-event checks:

- brake pads

- brake fluid

- tyre condition

- tyre pressures (best to add a bit extra PSI)

- fluid/oil leaks - dont be the one that drops oil onto the track

- wheel nuts tight

- tape glass headlights

- fit towing eye

on-event checks:

- wheel nuts

- tyre pressures

- tyre condition (some events wear tyres quickly)

- fluid levels

- petrol .. keep an eye on the fuel level - it goes quickly and it would be really embrassing to run out

- engine temps

good practice:

- leave engine running for a while after you come in

- do NOT put on the handbrake (try and find some level ground to stop on and leave in gear after engine turned off)

- you are not aryton senna and you will not impress anyone by trying to outdrive yourself ie build your speed up gradually

NOISE LIMIT IS 102DB

HELMET HIRE IS AVAILABLE

TIMING GEAR WILL BE PROVIDED SO WE WILL SORT SOME CLASSES OUT TO MAKE IT SLIGHTLY MORE COMPETITIVE

personally I can't see a problem with LOCers bringing other cars (as long as they are there cars)

definitely up for it then :D

if we are short of LOCers we could invite TOCers ?
