How To Remove Dvd From Mark Levinson Navigation

Recommended Posts

Lexus GS 300, model year 2006 has Mark Levinson navigation system. Audio DVD was inserted by mistake into the navigation slot. The MENU button does not function; I believe because it needs correct navigation DVD in the system to function. As a result I can't get the Map DVD screen to access the DVD eject switch. How can I eject the audio DVD from the navigation slot?

Hi Josef, I struggled with this several months ago. The secret is there are hidden buttons on the LCD screen, in the top left and bottom left corners. Press the top left corner of the lcd screen (nothing will happen), then press the bottom left corner of the LCD screen (nothing will happen), press the top left corner of the LCD screen again; hey presto the DVD will spit out the disc!!!

I know its hard to believe but it works every time. Let me now how you get on.

Where do you get usefull info like this?

Any other things hidden? Is it applicable to all models with DVD?

The only other strange thing I found was a diagnostic screen for engineers, which the only useful thing I found I could do was increase the Mic levels for the Bluetooth?

With the ignition on, but engine not started and lights switch in off position. Hold down the Info button, while holding down, switch the lights on, then off then on again, hey presto a diagnostic screen will appear. Play with the menu to test things? The Mic level settings are in the Bluetooth sub menu!

Not sure if it's any use, but worth a play.

The only thing that interest me is trying to find the override for the Sat Nav as it drives me crazy not being able to set while driving. I will keep searching. :tsktsk:

The latest 2008-2009 DVD for the SatNav system updates the software to allow use of the SatNav while the vehicle is in motion.

If you could borrow one of these DVDs from someone, it would update your software, then you could put your old disc back in.

I've tested this on my old Prius and my IS250

Now that sounds interesting, first time I've heard of this.

So, if I just buy the latest 2008-2009 DVD that would sort this problem out?

Does it allow the use of the Telephone buttons while driving too?

The latest DVD only unlocks the navigation while driving. The Bluetooth interface and MP3 folder access remain the same (ie: you can only use your pre-programmed speed dials for the phone).

Thanks for this super solution. You know better then Lexus field technical specialists. Below I quote their email. Sorry I did not find your answer until today. I contacted Lexus customer service and was told to take it to a dealer. Then I contacted 2 dealership in California and was told the navigation drive must be removed from the vehicle and send to Denso. I contacted total 3 Lexus dealerships with the same result.

This is exactly what Lexus emailed me: "Matt Hollander forwarded your e-mail to the service department regarding your Navagation player/unit lacking ability to eject the non-Navagation DVD Disc. We contacted the factory field technical specialist, he mentioned that unfortunately, there is nothing on the car that will “sync” or prompt the eject icon to function. That is written into the Navagation disc. The only suggestion they made was to possibly have a close “Toyota” facility to remove unit, and perhaps either send to Denso for dismantling & retrieval of foreign disc, or attempt to remove outer case of player, & manually turn the feed rollers to eject dvd from player."

Hi Everyone,

Hope you can help! I have a 2005 GS300 with Mark Levinson. I have managed to make a similar mistake to the original post. I backed up my Sat Nav disk and c0cked things up while testing it.

After inserting the disc the system does not have any map information on the guidance screen and it wont let me get to the MAP DVD menu to eject (i can get to the MAP DVD button but it then does nothing). All other buttons / functions work as normal.

I have tried the above suggestion but it does nothing. On which screen should I touch the top left/bottom left hidden buttons?

Obvioulsy all I need to do it get the disc out, failing a software option is there a tried and tested manual way at all? I haved searched but only found this thread.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

Steve
