Can you get Blueprint flywheels maybe? Might be worth calling a motor factors.

Is that 708+vat just for the flywheel?

Not being rude mate but maybe worth calling them directly yourself just to check!

Had a look at Prolex and they have one at half that price:

Looking at Toyodiy that price is in the right ballpark for a genuine one!

13405	FLYWHEEL SUB-ASSY
13450‑0W030 1GFE..GXE10..MTM 1 € 691.11
13450‑70010 1GFE..GXE10..MTM 1 € 867.41
13450‑70011 1GFE..GXE10..MTM 1 € 869.79

Might as well upgrade now fella!

Just looked on the Blueprint website and it says they do aftermarket flywheels - got to be worth calling a local motor factors and asking them for a price for a Blueprint clutch and flywheel for the IS200 :)

The OEM flywheel does look like a fairly expensive part, but how did it fail ? I'm not very mechanical but it sounds somewhat unusual for a flywheel to fail.

Think they're only good for a certain milage mate? Worries me as I guess my autobox is going to go at some point down the road and that's a fortune in comparison I think :crying:

ok, but surely a flywheel normally lasts a lot longer than a clutch. Or am I wrong ?

That's right mate - what milage have you got on your car Dan?

I changed the clutch once on my IS but the flywheel was fine.

Just reading some stuff on Google and it says single mass flywheels can be resurfaced, but dual mass flywheels have to be replaced? Don't know if that's right or not though!

Does the car ever get used for drifting, wheel spins or anything like that? Just wondering if the clutch has been slipped a lot due to driving style or something if it's not mega high milage?

on solid flywheels its not that they fail they can get very badly heat damaged(slipping the clutch a lot) or if the clutch wears down to the rivits then it badly scores the flywheel!ask to see it dude and then take it to a machine shop and ask if they can skim any damage out nd re-face and that wont cost a lot!!

duel mass flywheels are a diff kettle of fish though they do brake up as they have moving parts.(not on the is200)

That makes sense then - as the clutch has been on it's way out it has in turn damaged the flywheel :)

I notice some garages do like to say something needs replacing when in reality it might actually be fine!

correct its a way of covering their azz!!some damaged to the flywheel will result in a bad clutch judder!then you could blame the garage if they didnt tell you but must admit they do make it sound worse!!(work for a dealer and heard some of their phone calls!! :shutit: :whistling:

oh from what i've just been told some is200 came with a solid and some came with duel mass!

will try to answer as many questions as poss lol

mileage is 70k (low on a 2000x model) but it did spend most of it's life in london from the previous owner so a lot of clutch wear, a friend found a JUN lightened flywheel for £310 on Nengun so it's defo possible to get it cheaper, mine is a duel-mass flywheel and yeah i think the quote he got was from the main dealer.

Apparently the clutch had been slipping for a while (not to my knowledge) and that it has completely burnt out the flywheel, will be looking around for some tonight

anyway you can get a pic and post it up?

normally you only replace a d/m flywheel when the dampers inside give up the ghost ie the inside spins(bit you mount the clutch too) and the outside doesn't (bolted to the crank)

will have to go over to the garage to have a look at the flywheel, but getting over there is hard as i have no car and am snowed in :(

just dont like the thought of you getin ripped off dude!!garages always hope you wont question the repairs and panic when you do!!!!just a wee tip always ask to see what is needing replaced and ask them to explain why(in person)!
