It does sound like coil packs but then if you have got new ones in and the cam belt was changed, I still think it's likely to be something to do with the belt not being installed properly (e.g. timing off). You need to get the codes read. Take it back to the garage that did the work for you, if you don't have a code reader yourself.

This sounds the same as my Altezza, cambelt and everything else was done last month, when idleing my car sumtimes randomly cuts out... when driving on the motorway its stutters, kinda like it misses a heartbeat, as it miss this beat u feel the car stop/go and the engine light may flash on... Just a quick flash.. Where can i get a list of the diagnostic codes as i know someone with a reader who i can get to read it?

Iv just checked the 2codes i got which were P0100 which is Mass airflow circuit malfunction and P0110 which is Intake Air Temperature Circuit Malfunction... However both these codes were read while i had my air filter off cleaning the MAF sensor and throttlebody so it seems they dont relate to any problems :S

Could it be a coilpack, even though all was well before the cambelt change?

Update.... Got a shot of a diagnostic machine after work and plugged it in to the tez.... It came up with "P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction " ... Is this an easy fix or am i looking at ££'s?

Any help appreciated :)

What sorta damage could this cause? My car runs fine but its just seems 2 miss a beat every so often, ill give the garage where i got my cambelt done a buzz in the morning, its just finding some time 2 get there as its about an hour away, would be easier if i was able 2 do it

P0340 means that the sensor that checks the camshaft's position appears to be malfunctioning. This sensor is on the intake camshaft. This does make it sound like it's probably something to do with the cam belt change, since that's involved with the camshaft pulley.

Edit - this is referring to the 1G-FE engine in the IS200. For the 3S-GE engine then it's probably something very similar.

you should be able to check the valve timing yourself by finding the marks on the crankshaft pulley and on the camshaft pulley.not sure where they are on your engine but somebody here may help.basically turn crankshaft pulley clockwise until the timing mark points to where it should then look at the camshaft gear to see if the mark on it is where it should be.good luck
