hi guys

i know the is200 is not meant to be a performance car but my mate kept up with me in his 2.0l mondeo estate containing just over 40 stone of bloke the other day which did disapoint me to be honest ,he knows it too and keeps taking the pee lol , i thought i would of had the edge on him !!.

i keep getting a knocking type noise coming from somewhere in the sunroof which is quite common apparently which gets on my knockers (no pun intended lol) the paint is too soft and scratches very easily to the primer ,and the mpg is appalling i dont floor it too much unless i need to but for the fuel consumption i would at least like to be able to beat a flippin mondeo.

I didnt realise it was just the autos that had CC.

I love it, set it to 30 when cruising along and the Mpg needle sits at 40 mpg!

Its ideal to help keep the mpg up!

Sorry to rub it in :P lol

Lol... This an old thread alright! :)

I agree with Ben, sticking callipers! Grrrr

Also.......

No armrest

Bloody sensitive alarm

Soft paint

Seatbelt doesn't go back by itself

The way it eats tyres

Cup holders are completely useless if you have a manual and their not deep enough. can't change gear without knocking your drink over

Apart from that I absolutely love my IS :)

The CD player has to be the biggest issue with this car, it's funny because a doctor had the car from new and only ever used cassettes so it was working when I got it. 4 months later it bust. All of the people I have spoke with have said their cd player has packed up too, and I'm sure yours has too!

I forgot about the CD player.

Mine works when it feels like it. Sometimes I'll go weeks with it working perfectly but then the error code. Sometimes the error code stays for days, sometimes only minutes! Very annoying!!

I've found that if I empty the CD player after every use I get longer between the error coming up :)

I checked mine when I got it home - it loaded and played, and switched between, 2 CD's, so hopefully it isn't broken. But I never use it for CD's anyway (cannot remember the last time I played a CD in a vehicle), so first thing I got was a GROM anyway, as I HAVE to have my iPod working in there! Nearly 8 thousand tracks in something smaller than a cassette, or a bunch of annoying CD's that only hold a dozen or so tracks each, and end up getting scratched anyway - no brainer!

^ Hopefully by early next week, I'll have solved that last one ;)

(I don't get a clunking noise when braking, but it's strange that it does "thud" a little when you change up the gears)

Reverse beeping anyone??? To be truthful it doesn't really bug me that much, what bugs me is the mocking comparison to HGV's I get whenever I take anyone for a ride!

Never knew there was a beeping sound for the reverse sensors, is it so loud that it can be heard outside the car or something?

No it's just beeps inside the car to let you know you've selected reverse gear rather than 1st gear as their next to each other :)

Unless someone's gearbox is shagged, I don't get why anyone wouldn't realise they've selected reverse instead of first. There's a noticeable "sticking gate" to the left of where first is, to get into reverse

Aahh....Yes but you forget this car was made also for the US market......

Not the brightest bunch now are they? Lol....... :)

You say that, but the irony is that US-spec cars don't have beeping instrument clusters. Plus, unlike here, their IS300 had a 5-speed manual option. :D

My pet hates;

- infamous knocking noise from front suspension/brakes/whateveritis

- Gearbox whine

- Clutch? I find it pretty hard to change the lower gears smoothly without a bit of a jolt or thud.
