What Engine Oil?

Recommended Posts

If you want an empty wallet go buy Mobil 1, if you want oil for your engine go to Halfrauds and buy thier own brand 10-30 Semi-Synthetic.

Any oil which meets the correct specs will work perfectly unless you run your vehicle way past its scheduled change intervals or race, rally or taxi it (with the corresponding short journeys with periods of idle between) and then all you need do is change it more often.

Some people love to know they have spent a fortune on a special oil when in fact it for all practical purposes doesn't matter to any normal driver. I work where we test engines to destruction on over a hundred dynos, years ago we used to use Texaco Havoline branded as our own, but now we just use the cheapest correct spec oil each year when we contract the supplier.

Seriously, thats the truth! :winky:

Hi all. I managed to buy 25 litres of Chevron 5-30 synthetic from Costco for under 50 quid! Handy if u have more than one change to do or keep for subsequent oil changes!:)
