Did you mean the MAss Airflow Sensor?

These can be cleaned

See this example of cleaning one on an RX which worked on my GS: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/knowledge/index.php?page=index_v2&id=152&c=11

These do get dirty and causes a CEL light, but once cleaned you will not get that warning again for a while and you'll save a bag of cash

No, don't think it's the same thing. The oxygen sensor is like a spark plug in shape (I think).
