I was on the Cat & Fiddle road before it was closed yesterday. Watching a mini trying to leave the car park was fun, in my car it was easy, safe, sure footed and good fun. I'm sure people must have been wondering if I was in a 4x4, maybe.....P1020947.jpg

He is driving fairly easy in the video. my summer tyres could cope with that. but one cannot deny that snow/winter tyres would make it much safer and easier to drive.

Winter Tyres make an incredible difference.......

.........you still got that vid of you outside your house on ice knitware......stick it on....

I have to say, I highly doubt your summer tyres would've coped with that ice. The winter tyres make that look deceptively easy.

Hi!

It was pack ice in that video! No way would my car with summer tyres have moved on that road!!!!!!

Seriously, winter tyres are incredible! There was a chap in a mini, a newish one, scratting about in the car park where that picture was taken. He had no traction, a bit like my car before I fitted these tyres!

I just popped my car in gear and off I went, no drama, no tc lights, just effortless! I had Pirelli Sottozeros fitted. I say had as I took them off this car as I'm trading my Lexus in for a Mercedes estate, due to a new baby and Lexus don't offer an estate other than an RX. :msn-cry:

I've ordered new winter tyres for the new car, Some Nokian WR A3's, they should be good too.

I will never run a car through winter without propper tyres again, I have seen the light!

I don't want to argue Knitware as I already know how highly strung you are! Which has likely been made worse by siemens withdrawal from the nuclear industry were your speciality I believe lies.

BUT…

do you really need an estate for a changing bag and pram(congratulations on the baby)!? I get massively irritated by people with one or two children thinking this is a perfect justification to buy a big silly jeep!

It maybe you have more children and a dog but I am just wondering? moving from a highly regarded and reliable car to a mercedes with questionable reliability and a notoriety for using bulbs.

Haha!

I guess you don't have children...........

My wife didn't want to change either but the Lexus is an 05 and I guessed that if I didn't change before the new GS came out I would lose more value. I've been looking for a couple of months and I wanted a petrol estate and It just so happened this turned up:

It being a 2007 facelift model problems were ironed out, oh................and it's also a 5.5 V8............

I am gutted to be leaving Lexus but it's isn't to say I won't return, maybe when the GS estate is launched!!

5.5 V8 :D beautiful that will sound great.

I like the looks of Mercedes especially the C63 the clocks are quite attractive in the Merc. I would like a C63 but its not a toyota built machine so next up will be an ISF once I'm old enough to get acceptable insurance:(

No I don't have kids myself but living very close to family who have lots 1 sister has 5!!! unfortunately she is has very limited choice now. but the others have 3 and 2. Despite my young age I am the vehicle purchaser in the family and the smaller families still manage in a saloon car. The one with 3 however did need something bigger when there were two child seats.

I wish you all the best with your Mercedes. Although start stockpiling the bulbsmsn-wink.gif come back to Lexus soon.
