Hi Folks
2000 ls 400 just failed mot on both rear brake pipes is it much of a job to replace them garage have said 4 hours labour £245 plus parts I have changed pipes before just wandered what access was like on this car as they are front to rear one piece pipes

Looking at the routing of the pipes I would say 4 hours is a reasonable time to do the job with the correct facilities and tools.
Both pipes run together from the master cylinder down the rear engine bulkhead where space is tight then under the car enclosed in plastic channels which will have to be removed and there are around 10 clamps to remove and refit ( think seized bolts and possible shearing of said bolts)
The pipework has some intricate twists and turns along its route.
I wouldn't fancy lying under the car on ramps or stands on a driveway for at least 4 hours doing it myself
