was driving on the M56 yesterday doing around 85mph@3.100 rpm, suddenly the oil light came on. it only lasted for a couple of seconds, and then dissapeared again without me doing anything...? :o:

..whilst i'm at it, I'm on 112000 miles now, I gather this means I need to get it serviced @ 117.000 miles at the LS 400 gets services every 9000 miles  :duh:

Oil light on a high mileage (112000 for a Lex isn't that high) engine might come flicker on at idle but should go off when revs go above 1200ish. Is the oil sludgy or is the level low? Was it the oil pressure light or the low oil level light (if your car has one(which it probably does))? I think the oil level light has wavy lines underneath it. If it was the pressure, it could just be a clogged filter or strainer (cheap) or something more major like the oil pump or pressure valve (expensive)

Best get it checked-all those pistons, valves and cams don't like running dry!
